A crown covers and protects a tooth that has been weakened by decay, fracture or root canal treatment. The material it is made from decides how it looks, how long it lasts and how kindly it treats the tooth beneath it.

We mill zirconia and lithium disilicate restorations in our own CAD/CAM laboratory from a digital scan. That removes the impression putty, removes the courier delay to an outside lab, and gives us control over the fit at the margin — which is where crowns actually fail.

Zirconia, E-max or metal-ceramic?

Monolithic zirconia is the strongest option and the right choice for molars and for patients who grind. Layered zirconia adds translucency for teeth that show. Lithium disilicate (E-max) is the most lifelike material for single front teeth and thin veneers, but is not suited to long-span bridges.

Metal-ceramic remains a serviceable, lower-cost option. Its weakness is aesthetic: as the gum recedes over the years, a dark metal line appears at the margin, which is why we do not use it in the smile zone.

Why margins matter more than material

A crown fails at its junction with the tooth. A gap of a few tens of microns is enough for bacteria to colonise, and decay under a crown is often silent until the tooth is badly compromised.

Digital scanning and in-house milling exist to control that margin. It is also why we insist on removing old failing crowns rather than crowning over an existing problem.

Bridges — and when an implant is better

A bridge replaces a missing tooth by crowning the teeth on either side. It is fixed, it works well, and it is the right answer when those neighbouring teeth already need crowns.

When they are healthy and untouched, we will normally recommend an implant instead, because cutting two sound teeth to replace one is a poor trade that patients are rarely offered the choice about.

What your treatment journey looks like

  1. Step 1
    Assessment

Radiograph, shade selection and a discussion of material options with costs.

  2. Step 2
    Preparation

Minimal tooth reduction under local anaesthesia, then a digital intraoral scan.

  3. Step 3
    Milling

The restoration is designed and milled in the on-site laboratory.

  4. Step 4
    Fit & bite check

Try-in, margin check, cementation and occlusal adjustment.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a zirconia crown cost in Jaipur?

Zirconia crowns commonly range from about ₹8,000 to ₹18,000 depending on whether the crown is monolithic or layered, with metal-ceramic options available at a lower price point.

How long do they last?

Well-made zirconia crowns routinely last ten to fifteen years and often longer. Nightguards materially extend that in patients who grind.

Will it match my other teeth?

Shade is selected against your natural teeth, and for front teeth we do a try-in before final cementation so any adjustment can still be made.

Why this matters for your case

Zirconia Crowns & Bridges in a hospital setting, not a single chair

Most dental care in Jaipur is delivered from single-chair clinics. The difference shows up when a case needs bone work, sedation, inpatient monitoring or a second speciality on the same day.
