Children are not small adults. Their teeth, behaviour and anxieties need a different approach — shorter visits, simple explanations, and treatment that protects the developing permanent teeth underneath.

When should the first visit be?
By the first birthday, or within six months of the first tooth appearing. Early visits are short, friendly and mostly about advice — feeding, brushing and cavity risk — so the child builds a positive association with the clinic.
Cavities in milk teeth still matter
Decay in baby teeth causes pain, infection and school absence, and can damage the permanent tooth forming beneath. Early bottle caries in particular progresses quickly and needs prompt care.
Where the pulp is involved, a pulpectomy saves the tooth until it naturally sheds, preserving space and chewing function.
Prevention we actually recommend
Brushing twice daily with an age-appropriate fluoride toothpaste, limiting sticky and sipped sugars rather than banning sweets outright, sealants on newly erupted permanent molars, and a check-up every six months.
We also screen for crowding, jaw growth and breathing habits, because guiding growth early is far simpler than correcting it later.
